Considering a Security System?
Security alarms have increased in popularity over the last
15 years. As the culture of crime has taken off in America,
so has the need for and awareness of security systems.
Security alarm systems are put in place for many reasons, with
four reasons being at the top of the list:
• Security alarms keep people out of their homes. As
the saying goes, “A man’s house is his castle.”
• Not only riches are protected in a house. It is the
people living within the house that have the most value. Protecting
a family is often the number one reason for purchasing a home
security system, and with good reason.
• As our country witnesses the creation of a larger and
larger divide between the haves and the have nots, crime is
increasing. As those without financial means become more desperate
to take care of their own needs, home invasions involving burglary
and violent crimes steadily increase.
• Security systems do significantly decrease the odds
of a home invasion. If someone does attempt to invade your home
and you have a security alarm system, help is only moments away.
More importantly perhaps is the deterrent security alarm systems
provide. Once the alarm sounds, many would be intruders become
frightened and leave the premises.
Another good reason to have a security alarm system is the
case of a fire. Most security alarm systems come equipped with
a police, fire, and emergency service buttons. With the addition
of a smoke alarm, a security system can alert you to a fire
as well.
Even more importantly, with an alarm system that utilizes fire
protection sensors, the fire department may be notified of a
fire. Rather than having to take time to make the phone call,
the fire department will know within seconds of the fire at
your home. This becomes just as important when you’re
not home because most likely a passerby would not notify the
fire department until seeing flames and smoke on the outside
at which time the home is likely to be a total loss.
A third reason people install security alarm systems is to
keep people in. Parents are always concerned for the safety
of their children. When children turn into teenagers, parents
no longer have a heavy hand in the safety of their children.
Instead, teenagers often figure out how to sneak out of the
house without a parent’s knowledge. This high risk behavior
can often have devastating results. Having a home security system
alerts parents to this threat and allows them to take immediate
action.
A fourth reason people install security systems is to protect
the elderly. If an older person lives alone, he or she may become
injured. If this situation were to arise, the local emergency
service could be alerted.
Once the emergency service was alerted, the appropriate personnel
would be dispatched to the home and the elderly person would
receive prompt medical attention.
This type of alarm system gives adult children peace of mind
concerning the well being of their parents. Adult children can
rest easily knowing that their parents will be taken care of
in an emergency.
Alarm systems can give us all a measure of peace in a world
increasingly filled with violence. Protecting our homes and
our families are usually top priority. Security systems can
help us meet that goal.
